युद्धविराम या अवहार या जंगबंदी (ceasefire या truce) किसी युद्ध में जूझ रहे पक्षों में आपसी समझौते से लड़ाई रोक देने को कहते हैं। जंग की यह रुकावट स्थाई या अस्थाई रूप से की गई हो सकती है। अक्सर युद्धविराम पक्षों में किसी औपचारिक संधि का हिस्सा होते है लेकिन यह अनौपचारिक रूप से बिना किसी समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर करे भी हो सकते हैं।[१]

युद्धविराम रेखाएँ

अक्सर दो पक्षों में कुछ देर युद्ध चलने के बाद दोनों इस स्थिति में पहुँच जाते हैं जिसमें किसी की भी पूर्ण विजय होना असंभव लगता है लेकिन वे पूर्ण रूप से आपसी समझौता करने को तैयार भी नहीं होते। ऐसे में दोनों में अक्सर युद्धविराम हो जाता है और उनकी सेनाएँ जहाँ भिड़ रही होती हैं वही उनकी वास्तविक आपसी सरहद बन जाती है, हालांकि इसे एक या दोनों पक्ष मान्य सीमा मानने को राज़ी नहीं होते। ऐसी सीमाओं को 'युद्धविराम रेखा' (ceasefire line, सीज़फ़ायर लाइन) कहा जाता है।[२] मसलन उत्तर कोरिया और दक्षिण कोरिया का युद्ध औपचारिक रूप से कभी ख़त्म नहीं हुआ है लेकिन १९५३ में उनके बीच एक युद्धविराम रेखा बन गई और वही उनकी आपसी सरहद के रूप में अस्तित्व में है।[३] १९६५ के युद्ध के बाद भारत और पाकिस्तान की कश्मीर क्षेत्र की सरहद को भी युद्धविराम रेखा कहा जाता था लेकिन १९७१ के युद्ध के बाद हुए शिमला समझौते के बाद उसे नियंत्रण रेखा कहा जाने लगा।[४]
